When it comes to installing your stereo systems on the normal basis, the standard 18 to 16 guage wire will do the job. However on the other systems where Amplifiers and quality surround sound come into play, higher gauges may be recommended for the best sound quality. Look to the manual to see if suggestions are used to get the best sound for your money, and to not buy a more expensive wire then is required. If your new to wires, please know that the smaller the number is, the bigger the wire. For example: 18 gauge wire, is a smaller diameter then 12 gauge.
