Button cell batteries are small, round and thin-shaped like buttons that are used in watches, hearing aids, toys, greeting cards and remote controls.
Primary (non-rechargeable) button cells include:
*Alkaline manganese – used in personal stereos and radio-cassette players.
*Mercuric oxide – used in hearing aids, pacemakers and photographic equipment.
*Zinc air – an alternative to mercuric button cells – used for hearing aids and radio pagers.
*Silver oxide – used for electronic watches and calculators.
*Lithium – used for watches and photographic equipment.
These batteries are recycled in the same manner as primary lithium batteries.
The cost to transport and recycle button cells is $3.00 per pound.
All Battery Sales and Service can provide documentation of the recycling of your waste batteries including copies of the transportation manifests and Certification of Reclamation from the end site recycler.
